Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic Doctor Education

Naturopathic Doctors (ND) are trained as primary care physicians, with a unique skill set and philosophy.  In Naturopathic Medicine, our goal is to help individuals heal from illness, whether acute or chronic, and no matter how minor or severe.

NDs understand that the body has complex and intelligent systems in place to return to wellness.  Sometimes though, there are obstacles to these processes being effective.   Our job as physicians is to help remove these obstacles and stimulate healing in the most gentle and rapid way possible, by incorporating the medicinal knowledge of our ancestors combined with the most cutting edge scientific knowledge available.

Naturopathic Doctors have an expansive therapeutic tool box, unlike that of any other current medical profession.  This large field of medical and therapeutic expertise means we have the right tools at our disposal to individualize treatments and stimulate the body's natural biological healing mechanisms.

Naturopathic Doctors Attend a Post-Graduate 4 Year Medical School

The education is extensive in the basic sciences and includes the clinical education you expect to be taught in a conventional (MD) medical school.  However, there is much less focus on medications and a primary focus on treating underlying causes and stimulating innate healing mechanisms.  NDs have extensive training in:

  • Herbal/Botanical Medicine
  • Nutritional Medicine
  • Nutriceutical Medicine
  • Homeopathy
  • Physical Medicine (Hands-On Therapy)
  • Nature Cure Philosophy
  • Counseling
